Highgate, providing beautiful
holiday cottages and a perfect example of a timber framed black and white house built in 1631, it is listed and sits elevated on a knoll overlooking the Highgate Valley.
Around the farmhouse in a cluster of what use to be the old byre, cowshed, stables, corn and straw barns, are now six newly converted holiday self catering cottages, all spacious, well equipped, full of character with vaulted ceilings, oak staircases, ceramic and oak floors, all the cottages benefit from under floor heating, private parking for several cars per cottage and the use of the lovely gardens and grounds of Highgate.
Orchard Cottage has three double bedrooms and sleeps six, it is set above the trout pool and has a private terrace.
Quarry Cottage has four bedrooms, and sleeps eight, two double bedded rooms and two bedrooms one of which is on the ground floor, which can be twin bedded rooms, or super king bedded rooms. All bedrooms are ensuite, the ground floor bedroom having a large ensuite wet room. Quarry Cottage is disabled friendly; it also has a private terrace and looks over the trout pool.
Milkstand and Rosebank Cottages both have three bedrooms, they boast beautiful oak beams and are very attractive, and comfortable, both cottages sleep six.
Oak-apple and Old stable Cottages both have four bedrooms all ensuite and sleep eight; they are very spacious, and beautifully appointed.
The self-catering holiday cottages are available for short breaks, weekly or longer bookings, they can be booked separately or together for large family gatherings. Our butcher calls every Wednesday morning with the finest locally produced meats and eggs, plus a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables and wonderful freshly baked bread and cakes.
Welcome hampers can be provided in the cottages as starter packs upon request. Should you wish for some home cooking without all of the effort, we can bake casseroles etc and leave them for you in your cottage. Also, we can book you tickets for a night out at the local theatre.
Bring your Horses and Ponies to Highgate on holiday utilising our
Horse Livery, we have ample stabling, grazing, indoor ménage, circular hacking routes, and magnificent hill riding.
Highgate is situated in the unspoilt and relatively undiscovered Mid Wales countryside, it is an excellent centre to explore, the mountains, lakes, and moors, it is superb walking, riding country, a great area for all outdoor sports. The Snowdonia National Park is only an hours’ drive away, Newtown, three miles away, is most attractive market town, and
Powis Castle is close by at Welshpool. The New Inn a mile over the hill is lovely place for a chat, lunch, or dinner.
